General Education Initiative
General Information
Eligible Applicants
ˇEligible applicants are a consortium comprised of at least one university and three LEAs (including Type II charter schools). Favorable consideration will be granted to those applications that include participation of a reasonable number of LEAs within the region.
ˇA maximum of one General Education Initiative Application per region will be funded.
ˇA lead agency must be designated to act on behalf of the consortium and must have the capacity for accountable, effective budget management. Additionally, in the consortium, letters of endorsement must be provided and the degree of participation of all participating agencies must be clearly defined.
ˇMore than one application per region may be submitted.
ˇApplicants serving as fiscal agents may submit applications in more than one priority area, but only one application per fiscal agent will be funded via this RFA.
ˇApplicants are not prohibited from participating in other consortium projects.
ˇLEAs may choose to submit an application in partnership with a university outside of their educational region.
ˇThe fiscal agent listed in the application will determine which region the application is representing.
This project will be funded from July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004. Applications may reflect a 3 year period for planning, developing, and implementing goals. However, this application should address first year objectives and activities. Each approved project will require a yearly continuation application, and renewal will be based upon achievement of objectives, completion of stated activities, and timely submission of all reports; i.e., quarterly, annual performance, and project completion reports. Grant awards are based on availability of funds.
