Mission Statement
The mission of the Division of Special Populations is to ensure that every child in every school has access to instruction delivered by well-trained teachers who are accountable for the academic success of every child.
PUBLIC NOTICE
The Louisiana Department of Education is requesting proposals for a Special Education Consultant to be appointed to assist the East Baton Rouge Parish School System in addressing issues of noncompliance related to students with disabilities. Noncompliance has been identified and assistance is needed in the following areas:
- Provision of a Free Appropriate Public Education as it relates to providing appropriate services to address the behavioral needs of students with disabilities;
- Maintenance of Data to assure the provision of a Free Appropriate Public Education following Disciplinary Removals; and
- Provision of a Free Appropriate Public Education related to IEP responsibilities, addressing the academic needs of students with disabilities; the use of supplemental aids and services; addressing lack of progress toward annual goals and consideration of special factors that impact student performance.
