NBC Pre-candidacy Informational Meetings
We are glad to hear that you are interested in participating in the National Board Certification (NBC) process.
Each year, the Louisiana Department of Education awards a $2000 subsidy to eligible candidates to assist them in their NBC efforts. Those who receive the subsidy are chosen through a selection process in which applications and applicant essays are ranked. If selected, candidates receive a $2000 subsidy and candidate support through mentoring and monthly support meetings.
Currently, the Department schedules Recruitment meetings for the NBC process in the spring of each year. To be eligible for the subsidy and to begin the subsidy application process, interested individuals MUST attend one of these recruitment meetings. The meetings are held from 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM. One needs to attend only one of the recruitment meetings.
Information about the 2009-2010 meetings was sent to every school principal and every district superintendent.
In order to apply for the Louisiana subsidy for National Board Certification, you will need to register at(http://www.solutionwhere.com/ldoe/cw/showcourse.asp?1455) and attend one of our state pre-candidacy informational meetings. Registration for these meetings is done via CourseWhere; you will need to disable your pop-up blocker for best results. You will also need to download and print the Pre-candidacy Informational Meeting Handout and bring it with you to the meeting.
