No Child Left Behind Grants Managment and Program Monitoring
No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
The NCLB Section of the Division of Professional Development is composed of two units: NCLB Grants Management and NCLB Program Monitoring. The responsibilities of both units combined include reviewing and approving Title 1 Regular and Stimulus grants, the administration, development, implementation and evaluation of school and district improvement programs including, but not limited to, Title I, Part A, and the Title I Part D (Neglected and Delinquent) Program.
NCLB Grant Management Unit is specifically responsible for reviewing and approving grant applications entered through the electronic Grants Management System (eGMS). The eGMS is the vehicle through which local educational agencies make application to the Louisiana Department of Education for participation in No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) funding.
NCLB Program Monitoring Unit is specifically responsible for coordinating and conducting periodic, on-site monitoring visits for all recipients of federal funds, including NCLB/ESEA. The NCLB section is responsible for the monitoring of Title I, Parts A and D. This monitoring effort is consolidated with NCLB programs throughout the LDE to include Titles II, III, IV, V, and X (McKinney-Vento). Additionally, the effort is coordinated with the monitoring responsibilities of other federal and state programs, including IDEA, Reading First, and 504.
