During the 2010 Legislative session, Senate Bill 297 by Sen. Jack Donahue, was successfuly passed and thus transferred the Adult Education Program from the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to the state's community and technical colleges. Through this legislation, Louisiana Community & Technical College System (LCTCS) will be able to address the needs of the 600,000 individuals in this state who do not have a high school diploma or GED. The program will be referred to as the Work Ready U program throughout the state.
